MISSIONS Matamoros: Strong Tower Church (Torre Fuerte Iglesia) - Landfill: City of Children Orphanage: Jamaica: New Hope Children's Home Mount Olivet Boys Home Manchester Infirmary Brothers United West Haven Handicapped Home Great Love Great Love A project of Congressional District Programs and the National Heritage Foundation "We can do no great thing alone, we can only do small things with great love" Mother Teresa Great Love aspires to bring hope and help to the homeless, the physically and mentally challenged, the elderly and to orphans. Great Love funds Journey's of Hope to the nations and locally to the urban poor, providing school supplies and scholarship opportunities for orphans and at risk youth. Community service outreaches provide tutoring, hair washing, encouragement, education, counseling and crafts. Partnering with nationals to establish feeding centers for homeless children is a long-term goal. Great Love sponsors times of refreshment for caregivers and directors of orphanages and group homes. Great Love invests in making indelible memories by sponsoring field trips and holiday parties for the poor and orphaned. In December of 2006, a home in Mandeville Jamaica was leased to provide shelter, job training and life skills for orphaned young men transitioning out of the government system into Jamaican society. How is Great Love funded? Great Love is funded by Great Love Family Partners, Private Individuals, Hospitals, Organizations, Businesses, Schools, Churches and Para Church Organizations who have a vision and a heart to help the forgotten and marginalized of society both in the United States and to the nations. The Great Love Foundation extends its arms to the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, India, Africa, Australia and beyond. Great Love Founder Carolee Mayne has been serving the people of Jamaica on short-term mission trips since 1993. She provides team training, facilitates logistics and leads teams to help the poor, the orphaned, the forgotten and the people who care for them. December of 2007 marks Carolee's 34th Great Love Journey to Jamaica. "I have had the blessing of bringing worship evangelism and encouragement to the people of Jamaica, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, Southern Canada, Australia, and throughout the United States. It's been a joy to partner with Urban Outreach LA to the Watts community and serve the mentally challenged in my own neighborhood of Eagle Rock." Great Love Journeys Great Love teams form as caring individuals of various skill sets and talents emerge with a desire to give of their time and resources to serve another culture. The shape and focus of each trip is determined by the gifts and skill sets of the volunteers. If a specific need such as a post hurricane building team or a medical team is requested by a children's home or other Great Love partner organizations, a solicitation is made for specific volunteers to lend their services. Great Love has facilitated relational mission teams, medical, dental, ob-gyn care, disaster relief and construction teams. Individuals give up their vacations and share their natural resources, spending it on sowing seeds of hope and encouragement. "There is ongoing joy, watching God fan the flame of service in the lives of others. True worship is extending compassion to the poor. To be people of purpose in His presence is what we were made for." Carolee Mayne, Founder of Great Love Sow into His Great Love by designating your support to:
